MENDELSSOHN : “HEBRIDES” OVERTURE

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1837)
is the most prominent in the club of February-born musicians – check last year’s tribute. He was one of the most important composers of his time, and one of the most impressive child prodigy cases, similar to that of Mozart. A pioneer, like him, of the “live fast die young” concept, he died at the age of 38.
The
“Hebrides” Overture was originally sketched by a 21-year-old Felix, en route to the Scottish island of Staffa, to be completed a year later…

I can’t believe – in all these years of your excellent posts – that you’ve not done The Hebrides before! I would have sworn you’ve posted this before. The world is still full of surprises 😉

I’ve posted it once before, thanks for pointing it out! I seldom do, only after 3 years at least from the initial post, and only if the views are less than what I feel it deserves.
These days my “political analyst” self has taken head – massive turbulence in Greece, in addition to the global one. I don’t have the appetite or time even for recording new stuff, although there’s plenty added every day.
Return to the blog’s normalcy is around the corner.
      Thanks again!
