LUCIANO BERIO : WORKS FOR SOLO PIANO

At a “safe distance” from the experimental moments of Italian composer
Luciano Berio (1925-2003), one of the prominent avant-gardists and a member of the October born musicians club, we listen to some short but disproportionately valuable pieces of his for piano. They are performed by David Arden.

I haven’t listened to Berio since my uni days and I recall his music being very different to this! I really enjoyed these pieces. I may have to play them more often 🙂

I think the reason Berio survived the avant-garde disaster (that’s what I believe this era was in general) is that he didn’t lose touch with his “traditional” side.
      Thank you!
