Ακούμε “Blues Before Sunrise”.
During his short lifetime [he died 30 years old in 1935] composer, singer and pianist Leroy Carr from Nashville, Tennessee wrote a large number of songs, most of then recorded with his partner, guitarist Scrapper Blackwell. Carr introduces a more sophisticated aura to the traditional blues style, and his playing and performance will be an influence for artists such as Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Jimmy Witherspoon.
We hear his song “Blues Before Sunrise”.
I had the blues before sunrise with tears standing in my eyes
I had the blues before sunrise with tears standing in my eyes
It’s such a miserable feeling a feeling I do despise
Seems like everybody, everybody’s down on me
Seems like everybody, everybody’s down on me
I’m going to cast my troubles down in the deep blue sea
Today have been such a long old lonesome day
Today have been such a long old lonesome day
I’ve been sitting here thinking with my mind a million miles away
Blues starts a‑rolling and it stops at my front door
Blues starts a‑rolling and it stops at my front door
I’m going to change my way of living, ain’t going to worry no more
Now I love my baby but my baby won’t behave
Now I love my baby but my baby won’t behave
I’m going to buy me a hard‑shooting pistol and put her in her grave

Old school Blues!
Right on!!! Fab!!
Leroy Carr was a great songwriter. He managed to record about 130 of his songs before dying from nephritis [he was an alcoholic] at the age of 30. Cruel world!
Thank you Resa.
Oh my! So many artists (of all ilks) live short lives.
