Το παραδοσιακό folk classic σε δυο εκδόσεις. Η του Mark Lanegan είναι εκείνη που προτιμώ απ’ όλες. Μετά απ΄αυτή του Leadbelly φυσικά.
The traditional folk classic in two versions. Mark Lanegan’s is my favorite one. After, of course, the one by Leadbelly.
My girl, my girl, don’t lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night?
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don’t ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go?
I’m going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don’t ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
Her husband was a hard working man
Just about a mile from here
His head was found in a driving wheel
But his body never was found
My girl, my girl, don’t lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night?
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don’t ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go?
I’m going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don’t ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, don’t lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night?
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don’t ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go
I’m going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, the pines
The sun don’t shine
I’d shiver the whole night through

You had me at Leadbelly. Both versions of the song are very powerful.
I remember idolizing Leadbelly the day I came across him back in the early ’80s. And I still do.
Thank you for listening!
You’re welcome!
I’m listening, yet again.
The Mark Lanegan version is fantastic. I love it! I hadn’t heard it before. Definitely my new fave song. Wow, wow, wow!!!!
‘Fantastic’ is the word!
Incredible performance of a classic!
