JOHN & YOKO PLASTIC ONO BAND: BORN IN A PRISON [SOMETIME IN NEW YORK CITY, 1972]

On this date, February 18, 1933, Yoko Ono was born. I am not referring to her because I like her, nor because I consider her particularly important. It’s just a chance to listen to two very nice songs. The first one is a song of hers, from the double album she released with Lennon in 1972.

[Verse: Yoko Ono]
We are born in a prison
Raised in a prison
Sent to a prison called school

We cry in a prison
We love in a prison
We dream in a prison like fools

[Chorus: Yoko Ono & John Lennon]
Wood becomes a flute when it’s loved
Reach for yourself and your battered mates
Mirror becomes a razor when it’s broken
Look in the mirror and see your shattered fate

[Verse: Ono]
We live with no reason
Kicked around for no reason
Thrown out without reason like tools

We work in a prison
And hate in a prison
And die in a prison as a rule

[Chorus: Ono & Lennon]
Wood becomes a flute when it’s loved
Reach for yourself and your battered mates
Mirror becomes a razor when it’s broken
Look in the mirror and see your shattered fate

[Verse: Ono]
We live in a prison
Among judges and wardens
And wait for no reason for you

We laugh in a prison
Go through all four seasons
And die with no vision of truth

[Chorus: Ono & Lennon]
Wood becomes a flute when it’s loved
Reach for yourself and for your battered mates
Mirror becomes a razor when it’s broken
Look in the mirror and see your shattered fate

[Outro: Ono]
Born in a prison

Well, well, I can’t remember this song. Admittedly, I skipped over most songs with her wailing in them. This one is a bit different.
Another note; I adore The Ballad Of John And Yoko.

I’ve done my share of skipping too. I never liked this creature, but this is one of the few exceptions. The Ballad of… is one of my favorites also. Thank you!
