JETHRO TULL : WAR CHILD [1974, 1985]

A Classic Case με ενορχηστρωτή / διευθυντή της London Symphony Orchestra τον οργανίστα του γκρουπ David Palmer. Το War Child αποτελούσε το ανέλπιστα εμπνευσμένο φινάλε του άλμπουμ.
Επακολουθεί το original από το ομώνυμο άλμπουμ [1974].

We start a
tribute to [anti-]war music with a Jethro Tull classic in two versions, “symphonic” and original.
The first one comes from an overall failed album released in 1985 :
A Classic Case with David Palmer, the band’s keyboard player orchestrating /conducting the London Symphony Orchestra. War Child was the unexpectedly inspiring finale of the album.
This is followed by the original from the album by the same name [1974].

“Would you like another cup of tea, dear?”
“Er, no, no, no, I’ll better go actually, I’ll be late for the office”,
I’ll take you down to that bright city mile
There to powder your sweet face and paint on a smile,
That will show all of the pleasures and none of the pain,
When you join my explosion and play with my games.
War Child dance the days, and dance the nights away.
War Child dance the days, and dance the nights away.
No unconditional surrender; no armistice day
Each night I’ll die in my contentment and lie in your grave.
While you bring me water and I give you wine.
Let me dance in your tea-cup and you shall swim in mine.
War Child dance the days, and dance the nights away.
Open your windows and I’ll walk through your doors.
Let me live in your country let me sleep by your shores.
War Child dance the days, and dance the nights away.
War Child dance the days, and dance the nights away.
War Child dance the days, and dance the nights away.
War Child dance the days, and dance the nights away.

I’d forgotten all about “War Child”! I remember it now.

    Excellent. On a war theme?

Yes! plenty of stuff there. I just hope the “real thing” doesn’t happen. I hope not even “President Biden” will have the nerve to cross the line. Because “the Russians” are right all along the way here.

The Biden folks want a war to distract people from his ineptness.

…and, saddest of all, top Republicans stand beside him!

I suppose you’re referring to Tucker’s report. Sad indeed. And I can see no way out of it …for the time being.

Admittedly, I love the original best. Still, the one with the orchestra is a fab try.
I am very keen on seeing/hearing what other anti-war music you come up with!
