Bach.

One of the things that impressed me in my first contact with the world of classical music was the neutral, utilitarian way in which most of the works are titled.
In contrast to the imaginative, poetic names you come across in “light music” [rock, pop, jazz etc. – my musical world back then], tracks like “this” have titles like “Fugue in A minor, BWV 543” by J.S. Bach. Simple as that.

Wonderful! That’s some neat footwork on those pedals too, something I never did master. 😅
Neither did I! I started as a piano player in order to jump to church organ…it wasn’t meant to happen. 😩😩😩
I also started as a piano player. I had a few organ lessons and ended up playing for a church plus weddings and funerals etc, but my foot-pedal work remained very hit and miss. 😀
That was pretty.
Are Fugues always played on organ?
Nope. I’ve played tons of them on the piano.
Some of them can be played on guitar. Being polyphonic forms of composition [2 or more separate voices working simultaneously] they can also be played by ensembles, large or small.
Thank you for that! Going to look up polyphonic… even though I think I know what it means. I want to be sure!
You must be classically trained?
I mean multi-voiced, two or more voices [melodic lines] working autonomously, but at the same time combined to give a result of various complexity.
The large scale compositions in this form are some of the most difficult to play…
Thank you for that!
