HUBERT PARRY [1848-1918] : JERUSALEM, PIANO CONCERTO

Σαν σήμερα, 27 Φεβρουαρίου του 1848 γεννήθηκε ο Βρετανός συνθέτης και σημαντικός δάσκαλος Hubert Parry, γνωστός κυρίως για τον χορωδιακό τραγούδι του, Jerusalem. Το ακούμε στην βερσιόν των Emerson Lake And Palmer. Επίσης ακούμε το τρίτο μέρος από το Κονσέρτο για πιάνο, Allegro Vivace. Σολίστ ο Piers Lane, ενώ την BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra διευθύνει ο Martyn Brabbins.

Today, February 27, 1848, the British composer and important teacher Hubert Parry was born, known mainly for his choral song, Jerusalem. We hear it in the Emerson Lake and Palmer version. We also hear the third part of the Piano Concerto, Allegro Vivace. Piers Lane is on the piano, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Martyn Brabbins.

      Classical music is the joy of life – this includes …requiems and laments. Nothing pretentious or sinister about it. This one is totally uplifting indeed!
