As far as I know this band didn’t hit the airwaves here. Totally new experience. Thanks.
Thank you. Well, they were never huge. Better known is one of their guitar players [the one in this album], STEVE HILLAGE – after a succession of solo albums and brilliant work as a producer in the ’80s [best example the NEW GOLD DREAM album by the Simple Minds] he went on to form the techno – trance outfit SYSTEM SEVEN!
in the ’90s [I’ve posted one of their songs, “Alfawave” remixed by Plastikman]. A guy unstoppable!
Ha. Now I do know NEW GOLD DREAM! I guess the North American mind back then was more… I dunno… something different than what connected with many European hipsters. Mind you, many acts crossed over. And some local talent did better in Europe, so who can say?
Thanks for the further leads. I’ll check ’em out asap. 🙂
Crazy, in a good way. Very indicative of they era they are from, with crude shades of It’s A Beautiful Day (the band) & attempts at Zappa (ism).
First I heard of them.
Gong were another [relatively] underrated band from the ’70s. Multifaceted and truly innovative. Better known is their onetime [and in this song] guitar player, Steve Hillage. He became, among several other things, a brilliant producer in the ’80s [check for example the Simple Minds masterpiece NEW GOLD DREAM ]. And he went on into the ’90s forming the outstanding techno/trance outfit, SYSTEM SEVEN, active till today. Thank you Resa!
Testing…. my last comment doesn’t show!
it does now…
