Ανάμεσα στους ένδοξους του September born club συναντάμε τον George Gershwin (1898-1937), σημαντικότερο Αμερικανός συνθέτη του προηγούμενου αιώνα και ένα από τους πρώτους crossover artists στην ιστορία. Παρήγαγε σεβαστό αριθμό έργων στο σύντομο διάστημα της ζωής του (ορχηστρικά, musicals, τραγούδια, soundtracks) συνδυάζοντας κλασική και jazz με τρόπο μοναδικά ολοκληρωμένο και προσωπικό. Θα ακούσουμε κάποια από αυτά, με πρώτο το ‘Lullaby’ στη βερσιόν για ορχήστρα εγχόρδων, από τη Συμφωνική του Saint Louis – διευθύνει ο Leonard Slatkin.

Among the glorious members of the September born club we have George Gershwin (1898-1937), most important 20th century American composers of the previous century and one of the first crossover artists in history. He produced a respectable number of works in his short life (instrumentals, musicals, songs, soundtracks) combining classical and jazz in a uniquely integrated and personal way.
We ‘ll hear some of them, starting with ‘Lullaby’ in its string orchestra version, from the Saint Louis Symphony, conducted by Leonard Slatkin.
