Σαν σήμερα, 17 Φεβρουαρίου 1949, γεννήθηκε ένας από τους πιο ρηξικέλευθους, συναρπαστικά ενδιαφέροντες μουσικούς που ηχογράφησαν υπό την ετικέτα του [με την π ο λ ύ ευρεία έννοια] “ροκ ιδιώματος”, o δεξιοτέχης της κιθάρας, συνθέτης και αυτοσχεδιαστής Fred Frith. Ο Βρετανός μουσικός έχει ηχογραφήσει ένα τεράστιο αριθμό άλμπουμ, δικών του, ως μέλος σχημάτων [Henry Cow, Art Bears, Skeleton Crew… ] αλλά και συνεργαζόμενος με ένα πλήθος μουσικών, από τον Robert Wyatt μέχρι τον Brian Eno, από τον Mike Patton μέχρι τους Residents και από τον John Zorn μέχρι τον Lol Coxhill.

Και “Traffic II” από το άλμπουμ Traffic Continues [2000] που κυκλοφόρησε με το Ensemble Modern.

On this date, February 17, 1949, Fred Frith, an excitingly interesting and bold musician was born. The British guitarist, composer and improviser has recorded a huge number of albums, on his own, as a member of bands like Henry Cow, Art Bears, Skeleton Crew, and collaborating with a host of musicians, from Robert Wyatt to Brian Eno, from Mike Patton to the Residents and from John Zorn to Lol Coxhill.
