A instant mix of music by the Dutch band Focus: the finale from the marathon “Anonymous II” [a tour-de-force from guitar player Jan Akkerman], the Renaissance – Romantic oriented “Elspeth Of Nottingham” and the first few minutes of the [also] epic “Hamburger Concerto”, inspired by Joseph Haydn.

Most enjoyable! I do remember them, and they still play some of their songs on the oldies rock station. I think there’s one with something that sounds like yodelling in it? I could be mistaken.
But of course, the famous “Hocus Pocus”, their greatest hit. Apart fron the yodelling stuff it has some crazy guitar passages [Jan Akkerman, their guitar player is a true item]. Here’s an “extreme” live version https://youtu.be/g4ouPGGLI6Q
Yay! Will head over to listen, as soon as Jerry Goldsmith is finished!
That was fantastic!!! Thank you!
Yes, the guitar player is amazing. I married a guitar player. (fave instrument) Of course he went on to play many other instruments, and compose for film eventually.
Still, the drummer in Focus is quite wonderful. Drummers are my second soft spot. I feel they are a rare breed now. Yet, there is no program, nor machine that can replace live drums.
My second affair was a drummer. He could play and sing, like Levon Helm.
