With a display of virtuosity/musicality which to me is the definition of “unbelievable”, Emerson, Lake and Palmer […March born drummer] cover the last part from Piano Concerto No 1 by Alberto Ginastera [1916 – 1983]. The track has been performed live during the recording for Brain Salad Surgery. The album’s cover was illustrated by H.R. Giger – designer, some years later, of alien figure’s prototype for Alien [1979].
The Argentine composer …praised the arrangement.

ELP was one of my favorite groups in the 70s. I think I wore out my Brain Salad Surgery Album from playing it so often.
Mine too! I remember this particular album’s cover in a giant poster hangin’ on my wall as a 13-year old.
Fabulous!
That was definitely…different! I like ELP but not come across this one before – thanks for that!
I first heard it at 12, and you can imagine the experience. To this day it’s the epitome of “mind blowing” to me, despite the considerable amount of oddities I’ve come across since. The first cut is the deepest.
