I close this little circle of farewells to 2020 with this song [from New Morning, 1970], because it represents the only “escape exit” I can see for 2021, God willing.
Time passes slowly up here in the mountains
We sit beside bridges and walk beside fountains
Catch the wild fishes that float through the stream
Time passes slowly when you’re lost in a dream
Once I had a sweetheart, she was fine and good-lookin’
We sat in her kitchen while her mama was cookin’
Starin’ out the window to the stars high above
Time passes slowly when you’re searchin’ for love
Ain’t no reason to go in a wagon to town
Ain’t no reason to go to the fair
Ain’t no reason to go up, ain’t no reason to go down
Ain’t no reason to go anywhere
Time passes slowly up here in the daylight
We stare straight ahead and try so hard to stay right
Like the red rose of summer that blooms in the day
Time passes slowly and fades away

That was just too, short! Of course I’m a HUGE Dylan fan.
2.35 minutes was very average in the day.
Jimi Hendrix bucked the 2 – 3 minute requirement, and was party to the beginnings of FM radio. Some say he was responsible. (another of my personal music heroes)
I read “Bob Dylan Chronicles”. It is very entertaining.
However, Keith Richards “Life” is an OMG riot.
Socrates, I just want to say how much I adore this station/blog.
I’m looking forward to another year of revelling in my faves of the past, being turned on to new faves of the present but mostly to hearing everything from the far past that I never heard before. Part of the reason for that is I did not want to listen. Now I do.
A very HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!
I can’t thank you enough Resa. You constantly give me reasons to keep on! A happy new year to you too!
😀
