Σαν σήμερα, 11 Μαρτίου 1921 στο Μαρ Ντε λα Πλάτα γεννήθηκε ο μεγάλος Αργεντινός, ιταλικής καταγωγής συνθέτης / μπαντονεονίστας Άστορ Πιατσόλα, ανανεωτής της αργεντίνικης μουσικής, δημιουργός του nuevo tango. Στη μουσική του η αυστηρότητα της κλασικής και η αισθαντικότητα της λαϊκής φόρμας βρίσκονται σε τέλεια αρμονία αναδεικνύντας ένα υπερβατικό μελωδικό ταλέντο. Είχα την τυχη να παρακολουθήσω την συναυλία του Piazzola στο Ηρώδειο, το 1990, που έμελλε να είναι η τελευταία του. Ακούμε “Nuestro Tempo” από το Quinteto Nuevo Tango. Στη συνέχεια, “Obivion” από το άλμπουμ – αφιέρωμα του βιολιστή Gidon Kremer στον συνθέτη. Και τέλος, από τους Irmgard Toepper, Hugo German Gaido τη σουίτα για φλάουτο και κιθάρα Historie De Tango. Today, March 11, 1921, in Mar de la Plata, the great Argentinian, Italian born composer/ bandoneonist Astor Piazzola was born. A rejuvenator of Argentinian music, creator of nuevo tango. In his music the rigour of classical and the feeling of popular form are in perfect harmony, bringing out a transcendent melodic talent. I had the opportunity to attend Piazzola’s concert in Herodes Atticus Theatre [1990], which was meant to be his last. We hear “Nuestro Tempo” from Quinteto Nuevo Tango. “Obivion” from the violin player Gidon Kremer’s tribute to the composer.
