Genesis και Pink Floyd δεν έχουν ιδιαίτερα κοινά στοιχεία από μουσική άποψη, μοιράζονται όμως μια κοινή ιστορία: οι άνθρωποι που δημιούργησαν τις δυο μπάντες και υπήρξαν στο ξεκίνημα οι “ηγέτες” τους …έφυγαν νωρίς για να ακολουθήσουν σόλο καριέρα. Η περίπτωση Syd Barrett είναι γνωστή, λιγότερος κόσμος γνωρίζει όμως τον Anthony Philips, κιθαρίστα – συνθέτη-ιδρυτή των Genesis, που μετά τα δυο πρώτα άλμπουμ [From Genesis To Revelation, Trespass] τους εγκατέλειψε λόγω αυξανόμενης δυσανεξίας στις συνθήκες των τουρνέ – κυρίως λόγω αγοραφοβίας. Genesis and Pink Floyd do not have particularly common musical elements, but share a common story: the people who created the two bands and there were at the beginning their “leaders”… left early, going solo. The case of Syd Barrett is known, but less people know about Anthony Philips, the guitarist-composer-founder of Genesis, who left the band after the first two albums [From Genesis To Revelation, Trespass] due to an increasing intolerance to tour conditions – mainly due to agoraphobia. We listen to the intro and the finale of his electronic suite “Iceflight”, from his album Private Parts & Pieces VII: Slow Waves, Soft Stars [1987]
