AL JOURGENSEN / 1.000 HOMO DJs : SUPERNAUT [NATIVITY IN BLACK, A TRIBUTE TO BLACK SABBATH, 1994]

Back to the
SPACE HYMNS concept, which was interrupted by the unexpected Chick Corea’s passing. Al Jourgensen [Ministry] with his side project 1.000 Homo DJs is giving his own epic version of a Sabbath classic.

I want to reach out and touch the sky
I want to touch the sun, but I don’t need to fly
I’m gonna climb up every mountain of the moon
And find the dish that ran away with the spoon
I’ve crossed the oceans, turned every bend
I found the plastic at the gold at rainbow’s end
I’ve been through magic and through life’s reality
I’ve lived a thousand years and it never bothered me
Got no religion, don’t need no friends
Got all I want and I don’t need to pretend
Don’t try to reach me, ’cause I’ll tear up your mind
I’ve seen the future and I’ve left it behind

    LOVE THIS!!!!

It blows me away how many riffs I hear in rock music that Lenny Kravitz utilized.
I’m not anti-Lenny, but he sure regurgitated the glory of others. I hear the riff from “Are You Gonna go My Way” in here. He ripped Hendrix. At least when he covered “American Woman” Burton & whomever else made lots more money, and Burton did the show star circuit.
Winnipeg is still a small city. Burton is still a hero & lives there. When I was a kid, and he came back from LA, after “American Woman” he took me for a ride in his new Jaguar. He treated everybody special. The city LOVES him. There’s lots more, but I can leave it at love!

Well, the only thing I can add here, Resa, is that I ‘m …anti-Lenny from day one. He is the exact opposite of anything I call authentic. It’s not only the notes, it’s the way he sounds and his very looks. It’s all made-up and pretty calculated. Maybe if he’d lived in another time and place, he ‘d made a different use of his talent, but that’s just an hypothesis.
      Thank you for sharing this!
