Το μεγαλοπρεπές War Requiem του Britten,για σόλο τραγουδιστές, χορωδία + χορωδία αγοριών, συμφωνική ορχήστρα + ορχήστρα δωματίου, γράφτηκε μετά από παραγγελία για τον καθαγιασμό του νεόκτιστου τότε (1962) Καθεδρικού του Κόβεντρι, μετά την καταστροφή του από βομβαρδισμό στη διάρκεια του Β’ΠΠ. Ακούμε από αυτό, το πρώτο μέρος του Dies Irae(χορωδία), και το Agnus Dei για τενόρο (Ian Bostridge) και χορωδία. 🟡 🟡 Britten’s majestic War Requiem, for solo singers, chorus + boys’ choir, symphony orchestra + chamber orchestra, was written on commission for the consecration of the then-newly constructed (1962) Coventry Cathedral, after its destruction by bombing during World War II. We hear from it the first part of the Dies Irae (chorus), and the Agnus Deifor tenor (Ian Bostridge) and chorus.
