Εν έτει 1975, μετά τη διάλυση των βραχύβιων Tempest (με Allan Holdsworth, Mark Clarke) ο θρύλος του βρετανικού jazz-rock ντράμερ – συνθέτης Jon Hiseman πραγματοποιεί την αναβίωση (Colosseum II) του ιστορικού γκρουπ που είχε ιδρύσει μια επταετία πριν. Η μπάντα, με πιο prog-fusion προσανατολισμούς από την πρώτη, περιλαμβάνει μουσικούς του επιπέδου ενός Gary Moore – εν αναμονή εκτόξευσής του προς τη δόξα – και ενός Don Airey (keyboards). Από το άλμπουμ-ντεμπούτο του ’76, Strange New Flesh, ακούμε δυο κομμάτια. Το πρώτο, ‘On Second Thoughts’ (φωνή : Mike Stars) είναι αποκλειστικά του Moore, το δεύτερο, ‘Dark Side Of The Moog’ συνυπογράφεται από αυτόν και τον Airey. 🟡 🟡 In 1975, following the dissolution of the short-lived Tempest (featuring Allan Holdsworth and Mark Clarke), the legendary British jazz-rock drummer and composer Jon Hiseman revives his historic group from seven years earlier under the name Colosseum II. The band, with a stronger prog-fusion orientation than the original lineup, featured musicians of the caliber of Gary Moore – then on the cusp of his rise to fame – and Don Airey on keyboards. From their 1976 debut album Strange New Flesh, we hear two tracks. The first, ‘On Second Thoughts’ (voice : Mike Starrs) is exclusively by Moore, while the second, ‘Dark Side Of The Moog’, is co-written by him and Airey.
