Ο ύμνος της Καθολικής Εκκλησίας για τη Γέννηση του Χριστού Christe Redemptor Omnium (‘Χριστέ Λυτρωτή των Πάντων’) έχει μελοποιηθεί από μια πλειάδα σπουδαίων αναγεννησιακών πολυφωνιστών. Θα ακούσουμε αρκετή μουσική τους τις επόμενες μέρες, μεταξύ άλλων μελοποιήσεις του παραπάνω ύμνου. Ξεκινάμε από εκείνη για 5 φωνές του Βρετανού John Sheppard (1515-1558), πoυ ακούμε από τους Tallis Scholars υπό τη διεύθυνση του Peter Phillips. 🍄 🍄 The hymn of the Catholic Church for the Birth of Christ, Christe Redemptor Omnium (‘Christ, Redeemer of All’), has been set to music by a multitude of great Renaissance polyphonists. In the coming days, we will hear quite a bit of music from them, including various settings of the above hymn, among others. We begin with the version for 5 voices by the British composer John Sheppard (1515–1558), which we hear performed by The Tallis Scholars directed by Peter Phillips.
