Οσο ακραίο (;) και αν ακουστεί, υπήρξε μια εποχή που το ρόλο των celebrities, συγκεκριμένα των “λαμπερών ζευγαριών”, έπαιζαν άνθρωποι όπως οι εικονιζόμενοι : Η τσελίστρια Jacqueline du Pré και ο πιανίστας/μαέστρος Daniel Barenboim, παιδιά θαύματα αρχικώς, απασχόλησαν ακόμα πιο έντονα ως ζεύγος την επικαιρότητα των late ‘60s, ιδίως η Du Pré, αναγνωρισμένη ως μια από τις σημαντικότερες σολίστ του αιώνα. Allegro vivace 📀 📀 Extreme as it may sound (?), there was a time when the role of “celebrities” – specifically the “glamorous power couples” – was played by people like the two in the photo : Cellist Jacqueline du Pré and pianist/conductor Daniel Barenboim, both former child prodigies, made headlines even more intensely as a couple during the late 1960s. Du Pré especially was already recognised as one of the greatest soloists of the century. In 1973, her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis became front-page news and led evening television bulletins; the disease would gradually rob her of the ability to play and, ultimately, of her life in 1987, at the age of 42.
