Οι Weekend ήταν το εφήμερο σχήμα (διαρκείας τριών ετών και ενός άλμπουμ) που η Alison Statton των Young Marble Giants δημιούργησε με τον κιθαρίστα Simon Booth (αργότερα Afro Celt Sound System) και τους Simon Williams – κιθάρα, βιολί, Larry Stabbins – σαξόφωνο.
Ακούμε δυο τραγούδια από το ντεμπούτο / κύκνειο άσμα τους, La Varieté, του 1982. Το δεύτερο ειδικά απ’ αυτά, με την αθωότητα που αποπνέει (και την αξιαγάπητη φωνή της AS) ήταν από τα αγαπημένα μου της περιόδου.

Weekend was the short-lived band (lasting three years and one album) that Alison Statton of Young Marble Giants formed with guitarist Simon Booth (later of Afro Celt Sound System), along with Simon Williams on guitar and violin, and Larry Stabbins on saxophone.
We’re listening to two songs from their debut and swan song, La Varieté, from 1982. The second one, in particular, with the innocence it radiates (and AS’s lovable voice), was one of my favorites from this era.
