Όχι, δεν εννοούμε το (παροπλισμένο) μέλος των Floyd, αλλά έναν απ’ τους κορυφαίους εν ενεργεία κιθαρίστες & συνθέτες της σύγχρονης σκηνής της jazz. Γεννήθηκε στο Κέμπριτζ της Μασαχουσέτης (ο Gilmour στο αγγλικό Κέμπριτζ!). Ο David Gilmore, πέρα από μια εντυπωσιακή σόλο δισκογραφία, έχει συμμετάσχει σε ηχογραφήσεις και live των Geri Allen, Randy Brecker, Steve Coleman, Alice Coltrane, Jack DeJohnette, Trilok Gurtu, Isaac Hayes, Wynton Marsalis, Sam Rivers, David Sanborn, Cassandra Wilson, για να να αναφέρω ενδεικτικά κάποια ονόματα. Παρεμπιπτόντως, γεννήθηκε αυτό το μήνα πριν από 61 χρόνια (τον ίδιο μήνα και ο …Dave Gilmour, 20 χρόνια αργότερα)

No, we don’t mean the (retired) Floyd member, but one of the leading active guitarists & composers of the modern jazz scene. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts (Gilmour was born in Cambridge, England!). David Gilmore, in addition to an impressive solo discography, has participated in recordings and live performances by Geri Allen, Randy Brecker, Steve Coleman, Alice Coltrane, Jack DeJohnette, Trilok Gurtu, Isaac Hayes, Wynton Marsalis, Sam Rivers, David Sanborn, Cassandra Wilson, to name a few. By the way, he was born 61 years ago this month. (…Dave Gilmour was born on the same month, 20 years later).
