Ο Henry ‘Red’ Allen από την Νέα Ολεάνη ήταν ο τελευταίος εξέχων τρομπετίστας της Dixieland Jazz, συνδυάζοντάς την με το swing και αγνοώντας τις νεωτεριστικές τάσεις που από τα ‘40s αντιπροσώπευε το bebop. Δεν έπαψε ποτέ παρόλα αυτά να έχει μεγάλο σεβασμό και εκτίμηση από πρωτοπόρους του νέου είδους όπως ο Dizzy Gillespie. Αυτό χάρη στη δεξιοτεχνία, το προσωπικό, ευφάνταστο στιλ και την ατμόσφαιρα που ήξερε να δημιουργεί στη σκηνή και το στούντιο.
Δείγμα της παίρνουμε από αυτές τις ηχογραφησεις του ως band leader. Το άλμπουμ είναι το Ride Red Ride In HiFi του 1957. Θα επανακυκλοφορούσε σε cd με τον τίτλο World On A String.

Henry Red Allen from New Orleans was the last prominent trumpet player of Dixieland Jazz, combining it with swing and ignoring the modern trends that bebop represented from the ’40s. However, he never ceased to be highly respected and appreciated by pioneers of the new genre like Dizzy Gillespie. This thanks to the craftsmanship, the personal, imaginative style and the atmosphere he knew how to create on stage and in the studio.
A token of it are these recordings he made as a band leader. The album is Ride Red Ride In HiFi of 1957. It was re-released on CD under the title World On A String.
