My personal favorite, and one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time, Roy Buchanan never achieved stardom status, although the title of the “the best unknown guitarist in the world” doesn’t do justice to his reputation. RB was admired and appreciated by musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and the Rolling Stones who had chosen him as Brian Jones’ successor [he turned them down].
RB committed suicide in 1988, aged 48.
We hear his version of Don Gibson’s “Sweet Dreams” and his own “Five String Blues”, a track beyond description.

Oh, Jesus
This is my final plea
Yes, Jesus
This is my final plea
You know I’m still begging you
Don’t let the devil get the best of me

That touched my bones!
I can see why the Stones wanted him. I can see why he said no. I hear Jimi…. I hear Jimi in a lot of the blues you’ve been playing.
I’ve never loved the blues so much, as I do now. Thank you!
RB is God. I first heard ‘Five String Blues’ [the second on the post] …such a long time ago. And never, nor even once, without getting emotional.
Thank you for sharing this!
No, Thank you!!!!
