Like many others, I am especially fond of the albums Elton John released in the ’70s. Therefore, Songs From The West Coast [2001], marking the artist’s return to his roots was for me, like for many others, a pleasant surprise.
This is my favorite song from the album.
I’ll take a rainy day
To make a champagne shower
Poach some horn and tusk
To build an ivory tower
Been to Philadelphia
The day it was closed
I walked to New Orleans
Down a Louisiana road
The skeletons they hung from the bushes and the trees
But not a skull among ’em said boo to me
In a time of wine and cheap cigars
I’m on top of the world
Top of the world Ma
Look Ma no hands
Look Ma ain’t life grand
I’m a super power, I’m a handy man
Didn’t I turn out, didn’t I turn out to be
Everything you wanted Ma
Ain’t you proud of me
It takes a silver tongue
To have the Midas touch
Not your alchemist
Making gold from rust
Been down in Roswell
When the Martians came
I sailed to Mandeville
Across Lake Pontchartrain

He keeps on surprising me…. although why should I be surprised? He’s a massive talent.
Yeah, surprise is the word especially for this album, because by the time it came out the guy seemed lost in Disney world – not the side of EJ I like the most.
Ahh! Well, yes, he is a bit of a Disney World!
I know this is a tardy response, but I have 2 blogs with different log-ins.
I was on my street art blog for Hallowe’en, now I’m back on Art Gowns.
