Κι όμως, αυτή η παντελής έλλειψη δεξιοτεχνίας ήταν που έκανε τον Brian Eno να εστιάσει στον ήχο, και να διαμορφώσει τελικά όσο κανείς το ρόλο των συνθεσάιζερ στο πλαίσιο της ποπ. And yet, it was precisely this complete lack of virtuosity that led Brian Eno to focus on sound itself, and ultimately shape the role of synthesizers in pop more than anyone.
