Of course not. It is a cliche but ...The Beatles truly started everything - including 'progressive rock' which I grew up with.
I absolutely agree with what you write about this incredible song, one of my favorites also.

A superb song and one of my favourites. Undoubtedly influential to the growing psychedelic movement of the time too.

I believe the song arose out of Harrison's frustrations with Northern Songs, the Beatle's publishing label, where Harrison earned less from his own songs than the other shareholders did - in other words, Lennon and McCartney!

It is a song that, harmonically and melodically, continues to be ahead of its time in many ways. Could Pink Floyd's 'Don't Leave Me Now' have been written without this song?

Agree 100% about Lennon. He wasthe one.
Paul, very talented & many hits on his own, but there was always something "Nursery Rhymes" about his work.
I make 1 exception. "Let Me Roll It:" gives me shivers.

I 'm not sure about it. He didn't have John & Paul's songwriting skills. Great talent indeed, but these two were monsters! I have a special place in my heart for GH songs like "Here Comes The Sun", "I Want To Tell You", "Old Brown Shoe" etc, but Lennon-McCartney he certainly wasn't. And he didn't make a great album after The Beatles, apart from All Things Must Pass.
Neither did Paul as a matter of fact. The only one who kept producing high quality work was Lennon of course.
