The idea is that a lot of commercial music in the past 2 decades [including “pop” songs, r’n’b songs, jingles, OSTs et al] is based on the first 4 chords of Ricky Gardiner’s “The Passenger” [Am – F – C – G]. And that, therefore, this chord section is today’s equivalent of the G – Em – C – D from the rock’n’roll era.
