You're right, and I hadn't realised it! It's the voice and not only that. The song itself has something distantly reminiscent of Moody BLues' 'Dear Diary' https://youtu.be/7t8YpP4b39Q?si=BkdFO7lTqX7B_IuI

In reply to <a href="https://oannes.gr/kevin-ayers-the-lady-rachel-1969/#comment-26490">Ken Powell</a>.

Well, if I was the producer of this, I'd erase the Atom Heart Mother Floydian horns, or at least change their lines. The way they are, I feel like they hold back the groove a little bit. It's a gorgeous song nevertheless.
With Atom Heart Mother, Floyd tried to move a step further (and darker) from Sgt. Pepper's Beatles imho. In other words, to do what the entire progressive rock "movement" did in the '70s. Floyd were content to exclusively develop the psychedelic Beatles element. And yet they are registered in the progressive genre, and in a prominent position.
The only album that fits with this genre is Atom Heart Mother, so it's surprising (or is it?) that they themselves, especially mr. Waters, have essentially disavowed it.

Thank you to Jimi, and to you. I like this, but don't know the music or musician's name. The album title has a familiar ring, though. Bit of "Moody Blues" feel in it.
