I mean multi-voiced, two or more voices [melodic lines] working autonomously, but at the same time combined to give a result of various complexity.
The large scale compositions in this form are some of the most difficult to play…

Nope. I’ve played tons of them on the piano.
Some of them can be played on guitar. Being polyphonic forms of composition [2 or more separate voices working simultaneously] they can also be played by ensembles, large or small.

I also started as a piano player. I had a few organ lessons and ended up playing for a church plus weddings and funerals etc, but my foot-pedal work remained very hit and miss. 😀
