DAVID BOWIE : BIG BROTHER [1974]

Ένα από τα σημαντικότερα από κάθε άποψη, τραγούδια του David Bowie, είναι, “παραδόξως”, ένα από τα λιγότερο ακουστά. Πρόκειται για το φινάλε του άλμπουμ του, Diamond Dogs – το ακούμε μαζί με την καταιγιστική του coda, “Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family”. [Το post είχε ανέβει προ διετίας. Το επαναλαμβάνω, ημέρα εκλογών, ως εισαγωγή ενός αφιερώματος σε πολιτικού περιεχομένου μουσική και τραγούδια].

One of the most important, from any aspect,
David Bowie’s songs, is “strangely” one of the less heard. It ‘s the conclusion of his album Diamond Dogs – we hear it, along with its riveting coda, “Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family”. [The post was published two years ago. I repeat it on election day, as an intro for a tribute to political songs and music].

Don’t talk of dust and roses
Or should we powder our noses?
Don’t live for last year’s capers
Give me steel, give me steel, give me pulsars unreal
He’ll build a glass asylum
With just a hint of mayhem
He’ll build a better whirlpool
We’ll be living from sin, then we can really begin
Please savior, saviour, show us
Hear me, I’m graphically yours
Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to fool us, someone like you
We want you Big Brother, Big Brother
I know you think you’re awful square
But you made everyone and you’ve been every where
Lord, I’d take an overdose if you knew what’s going down
Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to fool us, someone like you
Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to fool us, someone like you
Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to fool us, someone like you
We want you Big Brother
