I totally agree about extremism of any kind. I agree also about the editor’s role in the past [I played the role of editor in chief for two decades or so…]. In the press nowadays, everything is about ads and likes.
My opinion about the social media hasn’t changed from day one: they are designed for destruction.
I must also agree, unfortunately, with your predictions. We ‘ll have to go through hell and back …that is if we’re lucky.

Extremism (whether from the left or the right) is repulsive to me and worthy of ridicule. Unfortunately that is what we are facing in the United States and the world itself. This is, unfortunately, no healthy discourse in the world we live in. I also agree that misogyny is every bit as dangerous as racism. But where are these values to come from? We can’t depend on them from religion or politics. And the echo-chamber of the media only compounds the problem. But I don’t think muzzling the media is the answer either. In media there used to be a highly respected and valued position called editor who served as a journalistic guide. But since the evolution of opinion based media – the editor has largely been relegated to dusty stock room of media control. Like someone once said “Opinions are like assholes – everyone has one and they all stink”. Sadly I think it will be a long while (not in my lifetime) before things turn around. But I guess I am hopeful that they will turn around. Let’s just hope it happens before it’s too late. Peace my friend. Keep up the good work.
