Σαν σήμερα, 20 Φεβρουαρίου του 1791 γεννήθηκε ο Αυστριακός συνθέτης, πιανίστας και δάσκαλος Carl Czerny. Όνομα οικείο μέχρι σήμερα στους μαθητές του πιάνου για τα βιβλία των ασκήσεών του, ο Czerny υπήρξε μέγας βιρτουόζος της εποχής. Υπήρξε επίσης μαθητής, ιεραπόστολος και ζωντανή εκγυκλοπαίδεια του μπετοβενικού corpus: εκτελούσε το σύνολο των έργων του LvB από στήθους – του έλεγες απλώς αριθμό σονάτας και άρχιζε να παίζει. On this date, February 20, 1791 the Austrian composer, pianist and teacher Carl Czerny was born. A name familiar to those who have taken piano lessons, Czerny was a great virtuoso of the time. He was also a student, missionary and living encyclopedia of Beethoven‘s corpus: he performed all of LvB’s work from memory – you just gave him the sonata number and he started playing.
