We can make up all kinds of studies. The regular Josés and Josefínas out there won’t try and look them up and read the studies. And even if the studies exist they probably don’t say anything like what is reported. It’s like when Draper and White published their warfare thesis between science and religion, they found one obscure reference to someone believing the earth was flat during the middle ages and said that all people in the middle ages thought the world was flat based on that one obscure reference. They said Columbus had to argue his case that the world was round with a bunch of ignorant flat earth theologians. And the stupid people in the world at the time swallowed Draper’s and White’s malarkey line, hook and sinker. Of course, the theologians were arguing that Columbus had miscalculated the circumference of the earth. They were correct, his calculations had the earth by about 1/3 the size it really is. Needless to say, all the studies are the same old crap, and about as ridiculous as Draper’s and White’s warfare thesis. Unfortunately, the propaganda, especially when said over and over and over again by the politicos and the partisan press is effective.
