I am always amazed that people are still stuck on over population. We have a problem of underpopulation in the industrialized, and Bill Gates and ted Turner turn most of the attention on trying to control populations in Africa and other less developed countries. Malthus did not consider technology and innovation with his ideas of the problem of overpopulation and running out of resources.

Do you remember the $10,000 wager between the ever optimistic Julian Simon and the ever pessimistic Paul Ehrlich? The wager was that five metals over a ten year period of time would either go down in price because of technology and innovation (Simon's wager), or that prices would be higher and there would be shortages because of over population and environmental damage caused by humans (Ehrlich's wager). At the end of ten years the prices for all five metals were lower. Simon won the bet and Ehrlich quietly paid Simon $10,000. The media kept it under wraps because it went against their socialist, environmental wacko talking points. Simon died in 1998, age 65. As the say "only the good die young". Unfortunately, Paul Ralph Ehrlich, who was born the same year as Simon, is still alive.
